November 27,
2013 / 12:05 AM (CET) Two major UK
adverts featuring original score composed and conducted by Guy
Farley were recently released. The biggest campaign is usually
associated with Marks a nd Spencer around Christmas and same as
last year, Guy Farley composed the score for brand new
campaign inspired by Alice in Wonderland. You can watch the
advert here and also buy the
sheet music for solo piano entitled Believe in Christmas that
is available through Sheet Music Direct.
Guy's short score is hailed as "Guy
Farley composed a wonderful score that conjours up all the
magnificence, magic and class that you would expect to
accompany the visuals. Guy's knack for a great melody,
and his skill of helping tell the story with his total control
of orchestral layers and dynamics comes to the fore in his
score." The other campaign,
which started a couple weeks earlier is Barclay's Premier
League "Thank you" advert (see the previous post), which you
can now also watch onYouTube. Guy is
currently scoring new Thomsons ad campaign, following
successful Where is my Mind ad from two years ago. More new
project will be revealed soon... Audio samples for all three recent major

Spencer) are available to listen here .

22, 2012 / 02:55 PM (CET) Last week Guy Farley was again
at Air Studios in London recording his music for upcoming
Virgin Atlantic's global ad campaign that will start on
January 3rd, 2013. Guy conducted 70-piece orchestra: "Great
big action music following one of their iconic films, this
time about how certain 'special' children are born into the
world with 'gifts', these gifts they cultivate and as adults
they become great people, like the X-Men, all working for
Virgin Atlantic!"UPDATE (Jan 7th, 2013): You can watch the ad
on YouTube now.
In the meantime, Guy has also signed
to score upcoming directorial debut of producer Peter
Fudakowski, who originally hired him to compose new music for

scrapyards in Wenzhou, on the coast of mainland China.
Romantic and erotic, laced with suspense and action, it's a
modern day fable inspired by Joseph Conrad's life and

In the meantime, here is a couple of
THE HOT POTATO review - first by Daniel Schweiger (selecting
THP score as the 1st of his monthly picks): "There’s nothing
tastier on one’s musical plate than a mashed “Potato” that
whips together the likes of “The Knack,” “The Wrong Box” and
“The Ipcress File” with spot-on success, yet allows you to
hear Farley’s own witty, well-performed Abbey Road voice
through the brilliant Barry homage." While John Mansell also gave best 10/10
rating to the score: "I recommend this soundtrack whole
heartedly and without any reservations whatsoever. and if I
was able to give it a higher rating than 10 I would." ..and Danny Gonzalez in Examiner (with B+
rating): "album is a pleasant and enjoyable listen that is
breezy and delictible. Scores likes this one are special
because of how music takes us back to a time and place where
everything was unique and cool."
October
19, 2012 / 9:15 PM (CET) Guy
Farley has signed to score upcoming project of Chris "Kit"
Ryan. DEMENTAMANIA is currently in production in the UK and

frustrated office worker who finds himself caught between the
realms of his deranged imagination and the mundane reality of
his everyday existence. The movie is based on the script by
Anis Shlewet and stars Vincent Regan, Kal Penn and Geoff Bell.
In the meantime, recent Skyfall Sony

for this short advert was recorded during actual Skyfall

strings and also co-performed the song. You can buy the album

September
03, 2012 / 7:54 PM (CET) MovieScore Media will release
Guy Farley's jazzy score for long expected THE HOT POTATO
digitally on September 11th, with CD coming about week later.
You can watch the making of here. The album was just announced
by the label and here is the the album's description from:
MovieScore Media’s fifth album with
the talented British composer Guy Farley presents a very
elegant film music homage to the great caper scores of the
1960s and 70s. The Hot Potato, starring Ray Winstone, Colm
Meaney and Jack Huston, takes place in 1969 and Guy Farley –
himself a big fan of the film scoring aesthetics of that
period – finds inspiration in the best of British soundtrack
hip: John Barry, Laurie Johnson, Ron Grainer… The result is a
very entertaining score with an infectious main theme and lots
of underscoring for big band and orchestra. Recorded at the
legendary Abbey Roady Studio 1 (where many of those original
1960s soundtracks were recorded in the first place), The Hot
Potato is one of this year’s most charming scores and one
where soundtrack fans are invited to share the love of film
music with the score’s composer! If you like soundtracks such
as The Persuaders, The Saint or James Bond you will have a
smile on your lips from the first downbeat of The Hot Potato!
September
02, 2012 / 0:54 AM (CET) Guy
Farley recently completed his score for upcoming documentary
MIRACLE RISING and is currently scoring new SKYFALL advert
directed by Baillie Walsh and featuring Daniel Craig. Guy's
Bond-inspired big brassy score will be recorded next Friday at
Abbey Road. UPDATE: here is a photo from Bond advert sessions.
Here is what Guy said about MIRACLE
RISING: "I have just finished my score which I wrote with
Craig Dodds for Miracle Rising. Because of the diverse nature
of Craigie who, in my opinion, is one of the most innovative
and brilliant producers of today, our score is different and
the result of two very different musical people and their
respective ideas. Almost all the cues were recorded as a
performance, sometimes live, sometimes electronic. We both
sang, we played various instruments from thumb pianos to
bells, percussion and tubes. The title theme is beautiful
featuring a 10 year old African girl using the first words
from the SAfrican anthem. We are hoping that Jay-Z will now
get involved in a full song version of it, all in progress."
Stay tuned for more updates -
including two new movie projects, which are currently being
discussed and will be announced soon.
June 19,
2012 / 8:54 AM (CET) "On 30th
June I am running a half marathon in Kenya to raise money for
Tusk Trust to send 3 Black Rhinos born in UK to Mkomazi in
Tanzania. I will be hugely grateful for any donations no
matter how small or large! This photo was taken in the Congo
last June 2011 where 3 Gorillas were being returned to the
protected national park at Lesio Louna run by The Aspinall
Foundation, one of Tusk Trusts beneficiaries. This year I am
raising money to send 3 Black Rhinos born in UK at Port Lympne
to Mkomazi National Park in Tanzania. See photos. In 1975
there were over 500 wild Black Rhino in this remote and
inaccessible game reserve. By 1989 there were none, all killed
by poachers. With the incredible work of Tony and Lucy
Fitzjohn there are now 17 Black Rhino in this protected
national park. I have been there, it is a paradise for Black
Rhino, their heritage.
Please give anything you can to
support Tusk Trust who have made and continue to make projects
like this possible."

23, 2011 / 9:15 PM (CET) New
90.second advert "Time for a Holiday?" for Thomson premiered
last night during UK's The X-Factor. Guy Farley adapted The
Pixies song, performed the piano part himself and also

listen to the music in the audio section.
In the meantime Guy is still mixing
his score for THE HOT POTATO and his recent Muller ad
"Wonderful Stuff" was hailed as "one of the biggest ads of the
year. It has already been picked as ‘Ad of the Week’ in
Campaign, The Drum and The Reel and is also ‘Sync of the Week’
in MusicWeek."
October
8, 2011 / 10:55 PM (CET) New
Muller 90-sec advert "Wünderful Stuff", featuring new music by
Guy Farley, premiered during today's episode of The X-Factor.
The audio sample of this great piece has been added to the
audio section. As mentioned, this piece was recorded earlier
this week at Abbey Road Studios with 70-piece orchestra. More
details about this project coming soon - including photos from
the recording session. In the meantime you can also watch this
ad at YouTube. The making of video about scoring the ad is
available on YouTube.
Guy is currently at British Groove
Studio mixing his score for THE HOT POTATO and he will be
recording his latest ad for Thomsons' "Time for a Holiday?"
this Monday at Air Studios. This piece will be recorded with
string orchestra consisting of 39 pieces and solo piano
perfomed by Guy himself.
June 05,
2011 / 2:18 PM (CET) THE HOT POTATO has been slightly
delayed due to delays in post-production and additional
editing required after its Cannes preview. The sessions are
currently being planned for July at Abbey Road Studios. In the meantime Guy Farley has also been
working on his next project: BEAST directed by Christopher
Granier-Deferre and starring Jack Fox and Edmund Kingsley, two
sons of famous fathers. BEAST is award winning production
company Poisson Rouge Picture's latest short film. It is a
terrific and twisted tale of a tenant, his lodger and a cruel
joke that goes horribly wrong. The 12-minute thriller tells
the story of a new lodger who announces to his landlord that
he had just killed a small girl. There is a few more projects currently
being discussed but none of them has been confirmed yet. More
information is hopefully coming soon.
March 30,
2011 / 8:18 PM (CET) Guy is currently finishing his
jazzy score for upcoming THE HOT POTATO and he will be also
recording his music for the new series of STRONGBOW
commercials with the 60-piece orchestra. STRONGBOW will be
recorded later this month at Air Studios, while THE HOT POTATO
will be recorded in April at Abbey Road. In the meantime you can enjoy new set of
audio samples that was just added to the audio section. THE FLIRTING CLUB suite consists of 5
shorter cues from the score, which was produced by Guy
entirely in his studio: Seduction Fantasy, Naughty Props, A
bit strange, The Kiss and Training.
Also added was Main Theme from 2009
short and award-winning movie ROAR (This piece was also used
in the film's trailer) and Guy Farley's music for new MORE
THAN add campaign. The theme was adapted from longer piece Guy
composed and recorded in Prague. Christopher Slaski produced
the sessions and you can listen to both versions here and also
watch the making of video with brief fotage from the sessions
(at the very end) at YouTube.
January
23, 2011 / 11:45 PM (CET) Guy
Farley is currently scoring THE HOT POTATO, set in 1969 when
on one fine summer’s night, a Ministry of Defence facility in
west London is virtually destroyed by an explosion and
devastating fire; an event that leads to our heroes Danny
(Jack Huston) and Kenny (Ray Winstone) coming into possession
of what turns out to be a large lump of Uranium, the Hot
Potato! Unaware of The Hot Potato’s true value but now
realising the danger they’ve been exposed to, Kenny and Danny
– ably assisted by Danny’s girlfriend, the beautiful and
surprising Carole (Lois Winstone) and shadowed at every turn
by the unshakeable criminal Harry Fisher (Colm Meaney) -
reluctantly embark on an adventure, taking them to places they
would never have dreamed of, and into the company of an ever
increasing assortment of shady and bizarre characters. The score is a hommage to great film
music of the period - mostly influenced by the works of Henry
Mancini and John Barry.
The final good news is that after
several delays THE FLIRTING CLUB is finally getting released
on home video tomorrow in the UK. Original score samples are
coming soon.
January
23, 2011 / 11:45 PM (CET) Guy
Farley completed scoring not only IF I WERE YOU but also
composed music for "MORE THAN..." Ad campaign currently
broadcasted in the UK. Guy composed unnamed piece of music,
that was adapted to the individual commercials and recorded in
Prague with The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra
conducted by Adam Klemens and the sessions were produced by
Christopher Slaski. Guy unfortunately couldn't attend the
sessions, which he oversaw from his studio where he was
working on the upcoming Meerkat movie.
Except for the commercials, Guy Farley
also completed his score for documentary TALES OF THE GOLDEN
AGE, which was recorded in Angel studios in London, while
soloists were recorded in Sphere Studios in November 2010. The
score is an ethno-orchestral, melodic and dramatic using
ethnic instruments like North African percussion, Ney flute,
African and Indian flutes, Saz, Shaum, Oud, African Guitar, an
Arabic vocalist and Claudia Georgette female vocalist based in
UK with a beautiful voice. You can hear a few samples in the
following suite.
As requsted in the Guestbook, film
version of Shopping cue from SORTED has been also added.
November
28, 2010 / 3:52 PM (CET) Guy Farley recorded his music
for the two new TETLEY commercials earlier this year in
London. You can now listen to his music here and also watch
the commercial at YouTube. Available in the same section is
Guy Farley's new arrangement of Ennio Morricone's La Cena from
La Califfa recorded for IF I WERE YOU.
In the meantime, Farley's brilliant
and freightening score for THE BROKEN was finally "released".
As the composer wasn't involved in preparation of this
"promotional edition", it is not entirely clear if actual
promotional release coming from Gaumont really exists or it's
a bootleg pretending to be a promo. The tracklist and more
details about this release/score were added to the
discography.
October
8, 2010 / 11:45 PM (CET) During this summer Guy Farley completed
music for several new commercials including 2 animated TETLEY
commercials already running on UK television and very well
received; new music for the third part of Orlov family saga -
aka THE STREETS OF AMBITIOUSNESS - you can watch the video
featuring Guy Farley's music here and finally his new
collaboration with Christopher Slaski on upcoming CARLSBERG
campain, which has been completed and recorded in London and
will broadcast in early 2011. Audio samples coming soon.
Guy Farley has been currently
recording new arrangements of Ennio Morricone's La Califfa and
working on his new film score for the upcoming IF I WERE YOU.
The film combines comedy and drama in a powerful and
entertaining story of two women who become the unlikeliest of
friends. Marcia Gay Harden, plays the dependable wife whose
world is turned upside down; Spanish actress Leonor Watling
plays the young mistress whose attempted suicide leads to the
unlikeliest of friendships; with Aidan Quinn as the man the
wife meets one unforgettable night.
June 26,
2010 / 9:50 PM (CET) As
requested in the Guestbook, samples from 2004 TV sci-fi
thriller POST IMPACT are now available in the audio section.
Due to cheap nature of the movie, the score was produced using
samples only as there was no budget to record it with live
orchestra. Watch the trailer onYouTube.
The film stars Dean Cain as American
Embassy Security Man Tom Parker who (after a comet
unexpectedly alters course, strikes Earth and causes a new Ice
Age) has to leave behind his wife and daughter in Berlin and
look for a way back to find them. His chance comes when a
secret military microwave satellite comes to life again,
destroying a plane, and research states that this could only
have been an action controlled from the frozen former capital
of Germany...
Guy Farley has recently been working
on numerous new commercials including new 'Compare the
Meerkats', new world wide 'Carlsberg' campaign and 'Tetleys'
who are re-introducing their characters with 2 new animated
commercials. All ot those should be scored live either in Uk
or Prague this summer.
June 20,
2010 / 9:50 PM (CET) Unique
project of directors Alex Jovy and James Bedford, THE FLIRTING
CLUB, will come out on DVD in the UK January 24th. Soundtrack
album is possible but will depend on success of the movie.
The film follows the story of Jamie,
age 29 going on 12, loser and virgin, who stumbles upon a
group of misfits who meet every week above a pub in order to
discover the secrets of love and finding the perfect
partner... The Flirting Club. Jamie has one month to meet a
real girl otherwise he has to marry Laura "the human pig" from
next door. The group of six, thirty-something singles and
Miriam, their teacher who has an unusual approach to flirting
success, seem unlikely to succeed. But as everyone knows, the
course to true love is never easy and the gang of misfits soon
learn that getting it right is more about being yourself then
trying to be someone else.
Read more about the movie and watch
the trailer on film's official website at http://theflirtingclub.com.
June 2,
2010 / 11:20 PM (CET) New exclusive piece has been
added to the audio section. "Glorioso for Ironclad featuring
the Dufay Collective" offers rare opportunity to hear the
piece submitted for movie IRONCLAD, which will be (according
to unconfirmed news) scored by Lorne Balfe, who has been
working with Hans Zimmer on some of his recent projects
including videogame Modern Warfare 2, as well as programming
and writing additional music for movies such as Angels and
Demons, The Dark Knight and Madagaskar 2. Glorioso for
Ironclad is performed by choir Dufay Collective, which
specialises in early music and you can read more about this
group on their official website.
Also added is two more videos to
adverts audio section: Recent O2 Broadband commercial The
Niggles and The Narks with music composed and arranged by
Christopher Slaski (Guy Farley worked as music producer) and
Warburton's We Care advert featuring Guy Farley's arrangements
of Jerry Goldsmith's Air Force One Theme.
The credits shared by Guy Farley and
Christopher Slaski were also corrected.
May 25,
2010 / 10:20 PM (CET) While recording his short
orchestral scores for two CARLING commercials last October,
Guy Farley was interviewed and the sessions filmed. The video
featuring this interview and various shots from the recording
sessions at Air Lyndhurst Hall is finally available for you to
watch in the Interview section or below. The video was commissioned and edited for
promotional purposes of the composer by Music Sales, which
publishes Guy Farley's scores. The video shouldn't be shared
and re-uploaded anywhere without prior consent. Feel free to link to this site and enjoy
this rare opportunity to watch Guy Farley conducting London
musicians recording one of his unreleased works... Don't
forget that you can also listen to clips from both CARLING
commercials in recently started audio section Vol 2 featuring
more music Guy Farley composed for numerous commercials and
adverts or songs he worked on as a composer and music
producer...
May 18,

director Adam Wimpenny and Guy Farley, FIRST TIME, has already
been released in selected UK theatres, The film (running
approximately 7 minutes) is getting a small theatrical release
at a number of cinemas around the country, including Leister
Square. The first sample from this

to audio section. It's playing ahead
of THE BAD LIEUTENANT with Nicholas Cage as of this Friday and
has been very well received from the cinema chains. Please see
the list of cinemas below.
May 06,
2010 / 08:30 PM (CET) Some of the visitors might have
already noticed there is new link in the Filmography section
that leads to various audio and video samples and links
associated with non-film related projects Guy Farley has been
working on during past few months. You can listen to not only
several commercials including the theme for MARKS AND SPENCER
CHRISTMAS 2009 CAMPAIGN but also new music composed for Orlov
family saga, aka COMPARE THE MEERKAT ads. This page also features various songs Guy
Farley worked on not only as a composer but also producer
working with artists such as Sugababes or Cassandra Fox. There
is also a few film-related songs available that were composed
for movies such TO WALK WITH LIONS, SECOND STAR TO THE LEFT or
DARKNESS FALLS and which are available here for the very first
time. Also available is Guy Farley's new arrangements of Jerry
Goldsmith's AIR FORCE ONE theme recorded in Abbey Road Studios
with 70-piece orchestra for Warburtons. Enjoy and don't forget to mention in the
Guestbook if you would like to hear more...
April 18,
2010 / 01:10 PM (CET) With recent decrease in UK film
production, Guy Farley has been working mostly on various
commercials during past 6 months. Just a few days ago the
latest Meerkat special was released featuring all new music
from Guy Farley. You can watch second part in the Orlov family
saga - aka THE BATTLE OF FEARLESSNESS here. His recent
credits also include: - new
arrangement of Jerry Goldsmith's AIR FORCE ONE theme (recorded
with 70 piece orchestra at Abbey Road) for BBC division
Warburtons. Currently on UK TV and Cinemas. - new arrangement of "He's a Tramp"

projects still being discussed but none of them have been
confirmed yet with only one exception - new short movie from
Roar director Adam Wimpenny: FIRST TIME.
January
16, 2010 / 10:40 AM (CET) During last few months Guy
Farley was focusing more on scoring short adds for CARLING and
COMPARE THE MEERKAT campaigns. You can watch successful
commercial 'The Journey of Courageousness' here. The theme
used was originally intended as the theme for 1999's WALK WITH
LIONS but wasn't used. It was recorded last year as one of the
three CARLING commercials but only two of them were finished
and this theme therefore found its place in COMPARE THE
MEERKAT commercials. Unfortunatelly due to time limitations
the THE JOURNEY OF COURAGEOUSNESS wasn't recorded with the
live orchestra but "only" studio samples. The music was
composed by Guy Farley and produced by composer Christopher
Slaski. On the other hand, Guy Farley also produced music for
MARKS AND SPENCER Christmas commercials, which was composed by
Christopher Slaski.
There are some new film projects
currently being discussed but none of them has been confirmed
yet. In the meantimne ROAR is getting released on the DVD and
you can watch the trailer (featuring Guy Farley's music from
the movie) below:
November

comedy THE FLIRTING CLUB. The film is currently awating cast
and crew screening at Pinewood Studios. Soundtrack album is
already being discussed. No label has been announced yet as
the film itself has no release date set so far.
Following project, TRIBES OF OCTOBER,
is getting delayed and Guy won´t start working on the score
until next year. In the meantime UK fans can already enjoy
three recently completed CARLING commercials in UK cinemas and
the visitors of this website can check two photos from the
sessions in slightly updated gallery. The commercials and
their scores are inspired by some major films and their music
(Lawrence of Arabia, John Barry-like romance). The clips are
coming later as well as samples from THE FLIRTING CLUB.
October
7, 2009 / 8:40 PM (CET) Guy
Farley will be at Air Lyndhurst Hall in London tomorrow to
record his score for two new Carling commercials in "You know
who your mates are" series. His short and epic score in
cinematic style, orchestrated by Andrew Pearce, will be
performed by sixty piece orchestra and whole session should be
properly documented by a camera crew. To give you some insight
about the style and scope of Carling's "You know who your
mates are" commercials, you can watch previous two from this
series on YouTube here and here.
In the meantime Guy is currently
finishing his score for upcoming THE FLIRTING CLUB, which will
feature numberous exotic and non-traditional instruments. No
release date of the movie has been set so far and it's too
early to tell if the score will be available commercially. At
least few samples should be available on this website as soon
as the score is recorded and mixed. Stay tunned for more
details re The Flirting Club and two Carling commercials.
September
25, 2009 / 11:30 AM (CET) KNIFE EDGE original motion
picture score will be released by MovieScore Media on October
13 shortly before UK DVD release of the movie scheduled on
October 19th. Pre-order links coming as soon as they are
available. So far, feel free to listen to three samples
available in the audio section and check the tracklist
included in the discography. The description of the score from
MovieScore Media's website follows:
"We have released several of Guy
Farley's gorgeous scores before (Land of the Blind, The
Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey, The Flock), but our new
one is probably our best - and possibly Guy's finest film
score to date. The orchestral score for Anthony Hickox
thriller Knife Edge, starring Joan Plowright, Hugh Bonneville,
Natalie Press, Jamie Harris and Tamsin Egerton, is an
affectionate hommage to the classic genre film scores of the
1970s: you will hear influences of John Barry in the wonderful
love theme, of Jerry Goldsmith in the atmospheric horror
writing and of Bernard Herrmann in the tense suspense music
and title theme. In our opinion, this is a score that is a
must-have for any fan of old-school film music at its best -
the difference being that it is actually written for a new
film! Our release of the CD co-incides with the UK DVD release
of the film on October 19."
September
20, 2009 / 11:30 AM (CET) Due to his work on upcoming
british comedy THE FLIRTING CLUB, Guy Farley won't be able to
attended planned signing at Dark Del scheduled for September
22nd. The event will still continue with director/writter John
Harrison who will be signing BOOK OF BLOOD CDs, DVDs and BDs.
You can still get your CD signed by the director and Guy
Farley if you place your order through La-La Land's website.
In the meantime you can finally listen
to four cues from unused score for TSOTSI in the audio
section. Here is what Guy Farley said about his music and the
whole situation around this movie: "This was my re-score for the producers
of the movie and was not part of the commercial release of the
film where the first score was used. I'm not sure if you know
the full story but in very simple terms the director chose his
composers to score the film and fiercely stood by this score.
I was commissioned by the producers to write a new score which
they attempted to make final but after Tsotsi starting winning
awards with the original music there was no way my score was
going to have a chance, especially without the directors
support. In fact he never heard my score."
September
15, 2009 / 21:10 PM (CET) La-La Land Records just released
Guy Farley's score from BOOK OF BLOOD. The CD is available as
limited edition of 1500 copies. If you missed opportunity to
buy one of 100 first copies signed by the composer and
director John Harrison available from La-La Land Records, you
can still order it from Dark Del of have your copy signed
personally on September 22nd at 7 pm at Dark Del. For more
information or to order CD/BD/DVD online in case you won't be
able to attend, visit Dark Del's website here, click on
Signing/Events and roll down the page.
Guy is still working on his score for
upcoming THE FLIRTING CLUB and is also preparing suite from
his score for MODIGLIANI to be performed live at the concert
by Charles Siem in October. The suite will be prepared for
solo violin and piano only. More information coming soon, as
well as some more exclusive updates of audio section and

May 27,
2009 / 9:45 PM (CET) In the
audio section you can listen to a brief clip from the
electronic score Guy Farley composed for 2005 direct-to-video
action thriller Submerged. The film, starring Steven Seagall,
Christine Adams, Gary Daniels, Alison King and Vinnie Jones,
was directed by Anthony Hickox and was the second
collaboration (The Last Run being the first encounter of the
two in 2001) of the director and the composer. Last year
Submerged was followed by their third collaboration on Knife
Edge, which is still awaiting its release. The film was released by Sony Pictures
Home Entertainment and Millennium films in May 2005 on DVDs
worldwide and its story is about Chris Kody (Segall),
imprisoned member of the US military, who is released from
prison and reunited with his old team in order to pursue a
renegade scientist. The catch, the scientist has developed
mind control technology that can make anyone into heartless
killers. Special thanks to Fighter
for providing the sample.

March 1,
2009 / 2:45 PM (CET) Guy
Farley about his recently completed score for Il Bene e il
Male (aka The Good and the Evil):
'Il Bene e Il Male' - 'The Good and
the Evil' is a 12 part TV drama, which has now been broadcast
in Italy. It has been sold around the world but I'm not sure
where and when it will be broadcast. I wrote all the main
themes, for the 4 main characters and the show itself. I then
scored the first 4 episodes completely to picture but also
creating a library for use in the whole show. Then, with my UK
team, we edited music for the remaining 8 episodes, but
I scored important scenes in some of these too. I recorded in
December and January at Abbey Road. My score was Orchestra
based but with Acoustic Guitars, modern percussion and
programming and some Ethnic instruments such as Baglama and
Saz. Orchestra was 36 strings, 6 Brass, Harp, Piano, 4
Woodwind and Percussion.
For more information about the series
you can view 7-minute trailer on youtube or visit the official
website, which is located here (unfortunately available only
in Italien). Also new interview with Guy about his score for
The Broken is available here. The interview also offers
opportunity to listen to two more samples from the score.
Unfortunately it is available only in French. In case anyone
would be able to translate it into English, please, mail it to
me and I´ll include it on this website

2009 / 3:35 PM (CET) Silva
Screen Records is already shipping their awaited release of
Guy Farley´s score for Cashback. You can buy the CD or
download the album on iTunes through Silva Screen´s website
where you can also preview samples from all of the cues. The
content of the album is the same as the previous promotional
release with a few more songs and source pieces added on the
end of the album.
Cashback's extensive fanbase stretches
back to 2004 when the original 19 minute short was first
released and sweeped top prize at fifteen international film
festivals before landing an Oscar nomination for best short
film. The short launched on iTunes in 2006 and ranked among
the top three short film downloads for two years. The tale of
an art student working in a supermarket whose imagination runs
wild was extended to a feature length film In 2007 to popular
and critical acclaim. Writer director Sean Ellis utilises all
his experience as a leading fashion photographer to bring
together stunning visuals with a very original soundtrack
approach. The music soundtrack features an eclectic mix of
musical styles which range from operatic arias, a classically
influenced score by Guy Farley and cutting edge contemporary
music. Previous Guy Farley soundtracks include The Flock,
Modigilani and Mother Theresa Of Calcutta.

Dec 10,
2008 / 9:55 PM (CET) Silva
Screen's upcoming edition of complete score for Cashback was
re-scheduled for February 2nd release date. According to
representative of the recording company, the reasons to move
release date of the album were based entirely on marketing
strategy:"Cashback is now scheduled for release on Feb 2nd.
It's been delayed because we felt it would probably get lost
in the overloaded Christmas schedule. The new date will enable
us to market it more effectively. Amazon etc have been
notified so the dates should change shortly. " In the meantime feel free to enjoy three
samples from Cashback score in the audio section. Only some of
the samples currently online will remain available when the CD
is released.

Oct 18,
2008 / 10:55 PM (CET) I know
you know screening will be part of the London film festival.
Guy Farley, as well as Robert Carlyle, will visit the first
screening tomorrow. More about the film and it's future
screenings during the festival is available here. A small
update of the website was also made and the clips from
portugese comedy Dot.com are now available in the audio
section. Also added was a photo from Madre Teresa scoring
sessions. This score was recorded by renowned engineer Mike
Ross Trevor and it was the last score recorded in London's
Sony Whitfield Street Studios. As regular visitors already
know Cashback album is being planned at Silva Screen Records.

Oct 13,
2008 / 8:10 PM (CET) Three
samples from Italian TV movie L'Uomo che sognava con le aquile
(also known as The Man who dreamt with eagles or The Lone
Shepard), directed by Vittorio Sindoni is now available in
audio section. The film stars Terrence Hill as Rocco, a man
who finds the sense of life while fighting for traditions and
becoming a legend in his town in the South of Italy. Rocco's
family has produced cheese in the mountains of Calabria for
many generations. Suddenly, the European Union wants to
prohibit the cheese production. Rocco fights back with
tenacity and stubbornness. On his way, he encounters a mother
whose child suffers from cancer and even a little
romance... The film is, in fact, a TV miniseries running
210 minutes in two parts. The first broadcast was on January 2
and 3, 2006.
Oct 6,
2008 / 6:40 PM (CET) About 10
minutes of samples from upcoming thriller Knife Edge is now
online. The film is about a successful Wall Street trader who
returns to England with her new husband and five-year-old son,
but their new start together turns into a nightmare when they
move into a country house which contains a terrible secret.
This occasionally herrmannesque score was recorded in Prague
and three photos from scoring sessions are included in the
gallery. The film should be released in February 2009 and it's
third movie Guy Farley worked on with director Anthony Hickox
following 2005 Steven Segall direct-to-video movie Submerged
and 2001 thriller Last Run.
Sep 29,

Italian miniseries L'AMORE E LA GUERRA (directed by Giacomo
Campiotti) are now online. This romantic and immensely
beautiful score was recorded by The City of Prague

new Guy Farley album is currently in the works. Sean
Ellis' Cashback was released in the UK on the DVD a few

released soon. All negotiations are not completed yet but
Silva Screen Records seems to be the most likely candidate at
this moment. In the meantime Knife Edge should be released in
cinemas in February 2009 and also Book of Blood is being sold
to theatres all around the world - release date has yet to be
determined. More exclusive samples on the way, stay
tuned.

made in html only (using php script is not possible for me due
to lack of technical skills), all comments are sent to me and
I'll have to enter them to the website myself. Please, be
patient, all comments you sent should be added within the next
24 hours. Don't hesitate to send suggestions for this website,

Aug 16,
2008 / 6:50 PM (CET) First two video clips from
upcoming thrillers THE BROKEN (directed by Sean Ellis) and
KNIFE EDGE (directed by Anthony Hickox) are available here,
while you can hear a tiny bit of The Broken score in the clip,
Knife Edge is unfortunately silent. No release dates have been
set for neither of Guy Farley's upcoming 4 projects - 3
thrillers (The Broken, Knife Edge, Book of Blood) and drama I
know you know. You can read review of recent MovieScore Media
release of THE FLOCK in latest Randall D. Larson's column at
Buysoundtrax (approx 3/4 of the article). One more review is
available through links page of this website.
Aug 6,
2008 / 3:05 PM (CET) British
composer Guy Farley, who recently had his score for the
Richard Gere thriller The Flock released by MovieScore Media,
is currently working on the original orchestral score for
Clive Barker's BOOK OF BLOOD, produced by the author and
directed by John Harrison. Farley, who is best known for his
melodic scores has recently focused on darker subjects (The
Flock is one example, THE BROKEN and KNIFE EDGE two others)
and is writing for an orchestra excluding violins, featuring
among other instruments ethnic flutes and percussion, a low
brass quartet (tuba, cimbasso, contrabass trombone, bass
trombone) and the unusual instrument Monochord. Recording
should take place in London later this month. The film is
produced by UK's Matador Pictures and stars Jonas Armstrong,
Sophie Ward and Paul Blair.

July 1,
2008 / 3:37 PM As promised,
we have another Guy Farley score coming up for release and we
are now ready to announce the title: The Flock. This is
possibly Guy's darkest orchestral score so far, and it is
fascinating to hear this very talented composer's approach to
thriller scoring. The film stars Richard Gere and Claire Danes
in a story about a missing girl and the intense struggle to
find her alive. To give you an idea of what the score sounds
like: Howard Shore's Seven meets Guy Farley's unique ability
to write thematically driven scores! Essentially, Guy produced
two versions of his score for the film - the second version
features more aggressive brass and percussion as well as
dissonant string writing. Our album features the best of both
versions of the score! This is our third project together with
Guy, and without any doubt not our last! The CD is scheduled
to come out on July 29 - the film came out on DVD in the US on
May 20.

June 2,
2008 / 9:37 AM (PST) Added
three more projects to the audio section consisting of samples
included on Guy Farley's Showreel promo. SORTED is probably
the best of the three and the only one being released on
separate CD, although it consists of cues of various artists
and only four selections of Guy Farley's score is included on
SORTED album.
You can now enjoy three of these cues
in audio section.
May 9,
2008 / 10:33 AM Low quantity
alert: there are less than 100 copies left of our critically
acclaimed Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey CD, featuring
an enchanting score by Guy Farley. To secure your copy, visit
our web site here. Speaking of Guy Farley, we are currently
working on another Farley album, this time featuring what is
probably his darkest and most frightening score so far! Stay
tuned for announcements.

March 26,
2008 / 12:25 PM I am
honoured to announce that MovieScore Media and our composers
have been nominated to several Goldspirit Awards, the Spanish
film music awards. The winners will be announced at the 4th
International Film Music Conference in Úbeda on July 10-13. In
the "Best Drama Score" category, two of "our" scores were
nomimated: Christopher Wong's Journey from the Fall (which was
also nominated to an International Film Music Critics Award)
and Guy Farley's The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey.
Furthermore, both Wong and Farley were nominated for the
"Composer Discovery" award, a category where Nigel Clarke is
also nominated (strangely enough, his writing partner, Michael
Csányi-Wills, is not listed despite the fact that he and
Clarke co-write all scores, including The Rocket Post which
MovieScore Media released last year). MovieScore Media was
also nominated for the "Soundtrack Label" award, and Dario
Marianelli (whose scores for I Capture the Castle and Beyond
the Gates we released last year) is nominated for the Composer
Award. Click on the headline above to get the full list of
nominations! ( source )

LMO check
in for Cashback with Guy Farley LMO recently recorded Guy
Farley's score for Cashback . This film, from first time
Director Sean Ellis, tells the story of Ben (played by Sean
Biggerstaff) who develops insomnia after a painful
relationship breakup. To kill time he starts working the late
night shift at the local supermarket, where his artistic
imagination runs wild... Guy Farley used a 45 piece LMO
together with extensive solo piano (played by Simon
Chamberlain) and percussion (Tristan Fry and Paul Clarvis)
overdubs. The sessions were recorded at Air Lyndhurst Hall by
Ben Georgiades.
